The majority of Harris and Associates clients are governmental entities, primarily counties and city governments or related agencies. The firm has designed 44 buildings for Jefferson County Environmental Services and two for Jefferson County General Services Administration since 1997. In the past 16 years, Harris and Associates designed numerous projects for Alabama's cities, including 18 for the City of Vestavia, seven for the City of Talledega, three for the City of Pelham, and two for the City of Cullman. These projects include facilities such as fire stations, police stations, city hall, community centers, and senior citizen facilities.

Ray Harris has submitted to, and gained approval from, the Alabama Building Commission on more than 120 projects over the past 32 years. Ray has prepared and successfully presented numerous applications for rezoning and new subdivisions to the Birmingham Planning and Zoning Committee, Birmingham Board of Zoning Adjustments, Jefferson County Planning Commission, as well as the Fairfield, Hoover, and Jefferson County Boards of Adjustment. Ray Harris has also served as a member of the Vestavia Hills Board of Zoning Adjustment for nine years. Harris and Associates is willing and eager to work on both large and small projects, including public works not formally bid.
